Pride of Portsmouth 2026

Hertha Ayrton illustration by Kate Jenkins aka Sticky Tape Kate

As part of the Portsmouth 100 celebrations, Portsmouth City Council has partnered with Wild in Art to bring a public art trail to the city. I was delighted to be chosen to be one of the 45 artists taking part.

My hand painted lion is called Hertha and celebrates the remarkable Portsmouth born scientist Hertha Ayrton. One side of the lion shows her as a physicist, known for her ground breaking work with electricity - she was known as the woman who tamed lightning. The other side presents her as a suffragette, recognising her role in the fight for women’s rights. The front of the platform reads : Inventor, Physicist, Mathematician, Engineer and Suffragette.

The trail runs from 13th July - 13 September 2026 and Hertha will be at location 16 - Portsmouth International Port who are also the very kind sponsors of my lion.

Hargreaves of Buxton

Lovely to work with one of the oldest shops in my home town, the gorgeous Hargreaves of Buxton. Popular with both locals and tourists, the illustration is now available across a whole range of souvenir products and gifts with more coming soon!

Oh Hillary

Range of Hillary cards. Hillary has blue hair.

There are currently 4 of these designs available in Tesco so far. Hillary was a freelance illustration project where I was asked to come up with a new female character. I was given the text to go on the cards but asked to write it in my own handwriting and think up different positions and situations for the character to go with the words.

Tableware

Originally created as a motif for a birthday card, the unicorn illustration is now available as paper party napkins.

Buxton Through The Shop Windows

Trail Guide, Map & Animations

Buxton through the shop windows trail guide illustrated by Kate Jenkins.

A trail map and guide commissioned Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust & Buxton Our Street for Christmas 2025.

12 of Buxton’s independent shops became host venues for music, arts, drama and craft events throughout December.

I illustrated each venue and also created animations for social media.

I submitted this design for an artist open call, the brief was Fire Horse. I couldn’t resist adding a mermaid and the design was selected to be printed and included in Riso Pop’s collective zine and exhibition in Amsterdam 20th Feb-16th March 2026.
